AVH Stamp Auctions is a young auction (Est. 2016) with a view of creating an auction for collectors of all types. If you are a specialist or a dealer, a collector or a hoarder. We aim to be able to offer you some material you will find interesting. We are a group of people with over 100 years of experience within the stamp trade. You can see us individually below.

Colin Avery
I have been involved in stamps since 1980. I have worked for a few companies before starting AVH Stamp Auctions. I have worked in retail with Ross Shiells. Getting close and personal with clients. I worked my way up in Stanley Gibbons from Auction Describer to Associate Director of Auctions. This involved going on valuation days with the buyer’s department and even being on the auction rostrum. This was particularly good training for what was to come. Working with Apex showed me how well organised you need to be, to be able to run Public and Postal Auctions throughout the year. I try to bring all my previous experiences to AVH Stamp Auctions.

Pauline Avery
I went to University but found my love for stamps gave me a philatelic future. I have been a member of a philatelic club (Milton Keynes) from childhood. Currently I hold the position of President of Milton Keynes Philatelic Club. Over my course of collecting, I settled on ‘Penguins on Stamps’. This led me to compete at my local club and then progress to international competitions and also displaying at other society meetings.
I worked at Stanley Gibbons from 1994 in their mail order department. I was responsible for the Collector’s Clubs, Brochure production and Customer Service. This gave me a great view of collectors needs and fulfilment. Working for myself from 2002 doing auction describing and selling on eBay (Ebay Shop - Paulinema) has given me a good foundation for AVH Stamp Auctions.
Paul Vishnick
I assist with condition reports and image requests. I have run my own business (Benstamps) for over 40 years. I have many friends within the stamp trade. With over 50 years of experience I feel reliable in giving information on lots within the auction.
Daniel/Ben Vishnick
We assist in the production of the catalogue and scan all the illustrations for the catalogues. You will also see us at the Public Auctions on reception and sometimes on the rostrum. We have worked jointly within Philately for over 25 years buying and selling within the trade and retail.
Stuart Henderson
Stuart Henderson was a founder member of AVH Stamp Auctions (the ‘H’ in AVH) team, he lost his fight with cancer in 2020.
Stuart was a lifelong collector of stamps, postal history and cinderella material etc., he held many positions in various clubs and societies. He was co-opted from the Stampex committee on to the PTS committee because of his length of time collecting and various involvements. He was also on the L & P Committee for many years, including Chairman, Auctioneer and Secretary, he also sent out the auction catalogues and newsletters to members. For such dedication to the Club, he was made a Hon. Vice President.
He worked for Phillips Auctioneers – Stamp Department in New Bond Street. Phillips was taken over by Bonhams. The Stamp Department then moved to Knightsbridge, West London. When Bonhams Stamp Department closed in 2009, he decided to start Goodmayes Stamp auctions.
It was decided to merge Goodmayes with AVH Stamp Auctions in 2017. AVH Stamp Auctions ran auctions from Goodmayes and other venues, but have moved ultimately to Hatch End. He was one of the driving forces that got AVH Stamp Auctions going.
